Relax and Explore in Zimbabwe and South Africa

Adventure-meets-relaxation in a group trip to southern-most countries in Africa: Zimbabwe and South Africa, hosted by Trbu Travel Expert, Dennus Baum. Join the group for a journey that kicks off in the “adventure capital of the world”—Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe—and safari through two of Zimbabwe’s famed national parks before landing in the lush wine country in and around Cape Town.

Victoria Falls, the starting point for this African excursion, is known for its striking waterfalls that crash down into Batoka Gorge; falling from their peak, a distance of more than 100 meters. The effect has been described as “smoke that thunders,” due to the striking spray that can be seen from miles around.

After viewing one of the Seven Natural Wonders, embark on a 7-day safari, by plane, Land Rover and canoe, through Zimbabwe spanning Mana Pools and Hwange national parks. A stay in Mana Pools at Zambezi Expeditions Camp is the ultimate safari experience: meru-style tents with en-suite facilities and alfresco bucket shower provide accommodations around a communal camp featuring simple luxuries and breathtaking panoramic views of the Zambezi River. Here, visitors will be delighted by elephant, hippo and buffalo sightings in addition to wildlife along the floodplains. Later, a short flight to Hwange National Park continues the safari with a stay in an authentic tented bush camp, Somalisa Expedition. Savannah grasslands are home to buffalo, zebra, sable and roan antelope, as well as lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dogs.

Depart the group after safari, or continue south to Cape Town for a relaxing journey through the seaside city and the surrounding wine country. South African wines, which include many red and white varietals, are largely produced near Cape Town and have placed South Africa among the top 10 wine producing countries in the world. Visitors to the city will enjoy its varied culture and cosmopolitan nature; the journey allows time for exploring Cape Town’s art, cuisine, strolling the V&A Waterfront and vistas from the top of Table Mountain. Complete the tour at a series of wineries and two-night stay at a luxury private villa in Franschhoek for a closing to this journey that is true relaxation.
